Captain Kesler spent several tours in Vietnam, landing at Tan Son Nhat as a Second Lieutenant, promoted to First Lieutenant the same day while waiting in the PX cue, and given a position as a Line Officer. Taking advantage of opportunities offered from Recondo and Sniper Training, the World seemed to get farther and farther away, as not only the war, but the culture and people of Vietnam became ever more present, and the nature of the conflict became all inclusive, demanding total attention, dedication, and an ever growing responsibility to those new boots that were finding their way to a war in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
