Through her popular bimonthly advice column in Bergen County, her phone guidance service, and many lectures, Dr. Birnbaum tries to let women know that there is no such thing as mid-life crisis, and that growth is possible at all ages. However, she cautions, when a woman decides to expand her options and to pursue a professional career during an already established marriage, as many women do, she may experience profound changes in her marriage and, unfortunately, divorce often results.
