Abstract:
This book, written for a general audience, features the outstanding achievements of eleven women scientists. Their scientific accomplishments are even more remarkable when one considers he many obstacles they had to overcome. While these women played an important role in Noble Prize winning projects and similar endeavors, they were often not fully credited for their crucial part in such discoveries. It is interesting to note that Lise Meitner, one of the women in this book, was nominated fourteen times for the Nobel Prize—she was passed over fourteen times! Their inspiration lives, however, serve as excellent role models for young women. Unfortunately, the lives and accomplishments of these courageous women are not that well-known today.
