Abstract:
Arabella is summoned to Magnolia Manor by her ill grandfather, Judge Sherman. A fire erupts in the garage apartment the night she arrives. A body is discovered in the fire; arson and possibly murder is suspected. Then someone breaks into the library. A boat is missing from the pier. The mystery deepens when a relative, who has disappeared, becomes the prime suspect. Arabella’s brother arrives at the Manor and becomes involved in the investigation. Arabella falls in love with an investigator but is crestfallen when she learns that he plans to marry his childhood sweetheart.
