TWO HAPPY DAYS
Two happy days they say
Are when you buy a boat
And when you sell.
The first is true I'm sure,
But the last is just plain hell!
What wonderful times
Throughout the years
We've had in our little craft
for 16 years or so
(and it will sail some more)
That sailboat served us well
And of the many lessons learned
You can bet respect for the sea
Was a lesson surely earned.
Then comes one day when you realize
It's time to let it go.
Your dreams will be on larger ships
With comfort down below.
With sails that set with electric winch
And instruments galore.
Refrigerators stuffed with food,
Hot water in the sink and shower too.
Elbow room and standing height to spare.
Oh the joy of sailing free is great
But this couple (now 79) are thanking
God for all the blessings he bestows.
We feel like we're in heaven
And thank the Lord the boat is sold.
We miss it, sure
But if the truth were told
As we stand now on the shore,
Although we know we're getting old
We'd love to sail some more!
MY NEW ADDRESS BOOK.
I've got a new address book
That I really should fill in.
There are places for emergency numbers
So I'll know just where to look
When I want to call the police.
(if I haven't lost this book)
There's a place for information on my auto,
And appliance repair.
Poison control center
And a number for day care.
If I need a religious instruction
There's a clergyman nearby,
And a Doctors' office
If there's something in my eye.
There's a line there for my lawyer
Oh, the list will just astound.
I must find my old address book
So I can copy all this down.
