Biography:
Majid Bey Qaragoyunlu, respected author, historian, educator, and government official was born in 1870 in Russia. He served as a Russian consulate officer in Iran where he died in 1973.
Among his memoirs and manuscripts was the true account of Omalat Bey, a Shamkhal Prince who died in 1820. Majid Bey wrote the story solely to correct the Prince’s character misrepresentation as set forth in a tale by Alexander Bestuzhev-Marlinsky.
Majid Bey’s granddaughter, Aktu Alizadeh-Kagazchi, translated the story from the Persian (Farsi) language, aptly capturing its rich narrative in beautiful and lyrical style. Mrs. Alizadeh-Kagazchi resides in Ontario, Canada.
