I was born in London, Ontario, but grew up in Fort William, now part of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Most of my life I've lived in beautiful British Columbia, first in Penticton, now in Kamloops.
I gave my title character and narrator most of the health issues I have. She also shares my tastes in books, movies, and music. This was my nod to the “write what you know” maxim. The rest of the novel came from my imagination and a fair bit of research which was, by turns, a fascinating, enlightening, depressing, and frightening education.
