Esther Griffin is a retired elementary and special needs school teacher and Library Media Specialist. For over twenty-five years, she has been a volunteer docent at the Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton, New York. As a tour guide, she has conducted countless people through the zoo explaining facts about each animal. Esther also has accompanied the Zoomobile van transporting handleable animals all over the area to schools, nursing homes, fairs and other gatherings showing and talking about each animal. She is a writer and editor of genealogical and historical newsletters and has written articles about some of the zoo animals
