Dick Wallace is a bridge engineer and Catie Wallace is an educator, and both are dog lovers. The purchase of a black Labrador puppy in 1993 led them into a 13 year volunteer service career at Wolfson Children’s Hospital of Jacksonville, Florida. Catie, Dick, and their dog Candy were one of the founders of the Pet Therapy Program through the Wolfson Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. The program quickly became a model for serving sick children, their families, and staff of the hospital. Dick eventually chaired the program, and Candy served a record 13 years with 336 visits to the hospital.
