Dr. Richard Scardamaglia has had a distinguished career as a California educator since 1961. After teaching grades two through eight, he served for twelve years as a principal before being appointed Superintendent of Schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. Under his leadership, the Los Altos District's test scores rose to the 99th percentile at all grade levels in all subjects for five straight years. Upon moving to the Rincon District in California's Wine Country, his schools received twelve Distinguished Awards for seven schools. Dr. Scardamaglia was named both Sonoma County's Administrator of the Year and Schoolmaster of the Year. Now retired, Dr. Scardamaglia occasionally teaches college and acts as a consultant to charter school districts.
