The cartons of yellowed documents had sat undisturbed for years in the basement. At my husband’s suggestion I spread everything out one June weekend to celebrate summer vacation from teaching science at a suburban high school.

After twenty years in the classroom retirement loomed. I was hoping to find an engrossing hobby. Here it was! I would write a book while researching my Kennebunk, Maine ancestors.

The author of Not So Long Ago In Maine is now retired and is living in suburban Boston with her husband of forty years and her French bulldog. The research involved in writing this book has been so enjoyable that another book is already planned.
