Biography:
CHARLES STINSON, a seventh-generation Virginian, developed a love for his home state and its history at an early age. A descendant of the book’s title character, he has done extensive research on eighteenth-century life in Colonial Virginia. He is a member of Historic Buckingham, Inc. and a supporter of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. His article “Horseford Road: The James River Crossing at Lynchburg before 1757,” appeared in Lynch’s Ferry, the Official Publication of the Lynchburg Historical Foundation. He is a retired Baptist minister who lives in Forest, Virginia.
