Howard Garner is a native of Greenville, North Carolina, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the University of Florida. A professor emeritus at Virginia Commonwealth University, he taught special education there for twenty-six years. He is the author or editor of five books and numerous articles on teamwork in education and human services. He is a very proud grandfather and lives in Richmond, Virginia.
