The author has been talking about Life and God in context with each other for the major portion of his life. He is a preacher - ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA - with degrees from Denison University and Gordon-Conwell and Pittsburgh Theological Seminaries – having served churches in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. He has published numerous articles on preaching, leadership and grief as well as three previous books: God on the Witness Stand, When a Child Dies, and Advent Dreams: Messages of Hope for Times of Trouble.
