Biography:
Lois Reed Hartley Naas was born in rural Indiana and lived the first two-thirds of her life in the county-seat town of Muncie. A graduate of Indiana Normal School, Eastern Division (now Ball State University), she married a local businessman, J. Ross Hartley, in 1929. They raised their family in Muncie, then moved to Colorado and on to Sun City, Arizona, after retirement. Fourteen years after Ross’s death, Lois (age 82) married Max Naas (age 85) and they spent the winters in Arizona and the summers in Harbor Springs, Michigan. They died within 19 days of each other in 2004.
