Biography:
Carolyn Shockey, RN.MS, has been a nurse for nearly fifty years. The last twenty years of her career was spent in the field of substance abuse, as a nurse in treatment centers and in prison. After her retirement she went back into the prison to work as a substance abuse counselor for youthful offenders.
She now resides in Hattiesburg Mississippi, where she is involved in various community projects, as a volunteer in AARP, and the Area Development Partnership. She takes classes at the Learning in Retirement program at USM, has done freelance writing for the “SeniorLifestyles” newspaper in Hattiesburg, and her church newsletter.
