From 1954 to 1956, Jerry Hanks was officer-in-charge of a liaison detachment linking the 511th Aircraft Control & Warning Group with the 4th Fighter Wing at Chitose Air Base on Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido.

Today he is a writer, editor and public speaker, living in Jacksonville, Florida. He and his wife Bobbi are co-authors of Tears of Joy, the story of their cancer journey together.
