Biography:
Arthur Clark Bivens, Captain, U.S. Navy (Ret) was born in 1929, in Tampa, Florida. He enlisted in the Navy in 1947. Two years later he won a fleet appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. He graduated in 1953, served on a destroyer, a diesel-electric submarine, and five nuclear powered submarines including command of the USS Sam Houston (SSBN 609). He worked 11 years for the commercial nuclear power industry, most of that time with the Atomic Industrial Forum as Manager, Reactor Construction and Operations. He lives in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife, Marcy. They have three children and ten grandchildren.
