Biography:
Kevin L. Erskine has been a Park Officer at Cleveland Lakefront State Park for seventeen years. He has been the Team Coordinator for the Harbor Seals Dive Rescue Team for the past six years. He is responsible for a wide array of training variables from victim rescue to evidence recovery. He is currently a certified PADI Divemaster. He also serves on the park bike patrol during the busy summer months.
Officer Erskine has been awarded the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director’s Valor Award and the Division Lifesaving Award for the rescue of a female in the icy waters of Lake Erie. He has written several articles regarding public safety diving, including a boat arson investigation article which appeared in Searchlines Magazine: an IADRS publication.
When not working, he enjoys scuba diving, mountain biking, rock/ice climbing and skiing. He lives in the Cleveland area with his wife and two children.
The Harbor Seals Dive Rescue Team is the only State of Ohio agency dive team that responds to other jurisdictions within Northeast Ohio for water related incidents and investigations. The team has also conducted an underwater hull survey on the WWII submarine USS COD, which is docked in Cleveland Harbor.
