Abstract:
Two high school computer geeks decided to begin a computer servicing business, starting out by working out of their parent’ basements. They soon realized that the demand for customized computer systems eclipsed the service work. As their customer base expanded, they were forced to move out of their homes and to hire seven high school graduates, the Original Seven, as they came to be called. Although initially assigned to assembly and testing of computers, their suggestions for increasing output generated the need for expansion. With the help of their families and the contributions of new players inside and outside the company, it grew from an obscure start-up to a billion dollar corporation.
