Abstract:
The Echoes of My People is a book of poetry written and compiled by Jameela Ali. A very fine work, a kaleidoscope of images, sentiments and interpretations of the African American experience in America. Poems ranging from the intense to the whimsical reflect the diverse voices of poets such as; Lucille Clifton and Maya Angelou.
An excellent collection of poetry that can be considered a time travel device, taking its readers for a look back to the good ‘ole days, though sometimes they don’t seem that distant. I recommend this book as a wonderful gift for any age or race.
