Abstract:
From the battle of Poland to the campaign against the Soviet Union, airpower played a critical role in the Second World War. Initially used successfully by Germany in the tactical role, airpower would be developed by the Allies to be a devastating strategic weapon. This book chronicles the early air battles of World War II, in which Germany came to dominate the European, African, and Atlantic theaters. Specific emphasis is placed on the air forces, units, and aircrew involved in the fighting. Blow by blow descriptions of the air battles are provided as well as pre- and post-campaign analyses.
