Lois Bays taught 14 years in one-room schools and 26 years in Consolidated Schools, demonstrating a total of 40 dedicated years to her passion of teaching and her love for children. She is a graduate of Morehead State University and The Institute of Children's Literature. After retiring, she spent 12 years as a journalist for a local newspaper. She has published two books of poetry, a children's book of short stories, a book of human-interest stories, and a book about teaching entitled, “God's Rare Gift and a Teacher's Analytical Views”. Her writings include a book about her birthplace, where she grew up and still lives today entitled, “Caney Falls, Caney Fork- Shifting Changes”. Also waiting publication is a Christian romance novel. Her writings are based around her upbringing she experienced as a farm girl, her desire to have a positive impact on children in the classroom, with primary guidance by her strong love and devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ.
