Abstract:
This is a story that for years has begged telling. IÕm not sure whether the story is HollyÕs and BJÕs or mine and ValerieÕs. I suppose it is a combination of all four. The four of us, woman, child, bird and beast, struck up unusual friendships from the start, friendships that brought us all through crises and helped us weather lifeÕs storms, emotional and literal. But all did not survive our storms. Only Valerie and I remain, and I have lost contact with Valerie. Perhaps, someday, she will happen upon this story and we will renew our friendship once again.
