Abstract:
Mark and Victor meet on a soccer field in 1960's New York. Mark's mother brought him there after spending World War II years in concentration camps. Victor defected from Soviet Russia to play soccer and to pursue his dream of money and power. Mark, an outsider in the investment business, fights for success within the rules. Victor, a maverick, twists the rules to succeed. Mark and his wife Lara, an aspiring writer, struggle with their war experiences and the strain of his work, while Victor and his artist wife Nina deal with his blind pursuit of money and the death of their son from AIDS.
