Abstract:
Basic arithmetic concerns the counting of things. Numbers are symbols standing for real world items, and over the centuries, mathematicians have made the counting of things very efficient. Basic Arithmetic & Algebra. A Focused Review aims to improve the understanding of the parents of home school children for the basic arithmetic concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squares, and square roots. These concepts are presented in a sequential, building-block fashion; one idea or concept to be understood before another is presented. Failure to follow a step-by-step process results in adopting a strategy of memorization, which often precludes understanding.
