Abstract:
Merrill Spencer wears her detective badge over her heart, now more for protection against male intrusion into her life than for identification. But when assigned to work undercover with FBI Special Agent Bill Payton, even as committed to her independence as she claims to be, all bets are off. Three shoulder-fired missiles are stolen and, before they might destroy many innocent lives, she and her partner must face down hardened killers and confront the homicidal treachery of a colleague. It’s just a job with Bill, she tells herself, but her resolve soon teeters on collapse. Of course, that concern becomes mute if her quest for revenge ultimately results in her own death.
