Pummeled by violence and strict social values, lives of two powerful Depression era families become entangled in politics and love as each seeks control of Utica in upstate New York.

Abstract:
Definitions of crime and corruption depend on the perspective of the perpetrators. During the fading years of the Depression, two central New York families vie for control. The Bommerito family-owned restaurant provides sanctuary and hides secrets of a Mafia connection while financier Roberts and his cronies desperate to maintain the status quo plan their secret takeovers behind the doors of banks and elite golf courses.

When pressure and pain are so great that mere existence is a struggle, people reach a breaking point. Members of Bommerito and Roberts families overwhelmed by violence and greed must choose to make compromises that challenge the integrity of each family.

  Manipulating families , 02/11/2010
Reviewer: Jane Duckworth
Lynn Hill weaves an interesting tale of greed, lust, and romance as she tells the story of two powerful families who reach their breaking point. This is a real soap opera, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the lives of these two very different, manipulative and powerful families.
