Abstract:
Unlawful Government: The Gathering Threat of Global Hegemony challenges the rhetoric of “globalization” to argue that the attempts to elevate political power beyond the nation-state are dangerous and doomed to failure. In a world of multiplying countries and individual choices, a fearful political class finds itself scrambling, so it has usurped the language of idealism to attack national sovereignty and the corresponding law of nations. The final destination of “global citizenship” would establish an authority lacking any external checks, a terrible prospect that has no social history to support it, but which can still cause a great deal of harm.
