Abstract:
Having engaged in horrific battles in Vietnam, black officers Charles Hibbs and Alford Brown finally return to the United States. Racism, that was not so prevalent in Vietnam, immediately becomes a reality to these highly decorated heroes. What they encounter in the South leaves both men wondering if they should have remained in South East Asia. In the military, both were addressed as “sir”. At home, they’d be nothing but “niggers” and soon come into direct conflict with the Brothers of the Cross.
