Abstract:
A medical student surviving the American bombardment of April 1944 lives twenty-five years under the draconian rule of the communist “vampires” of Romania. He witnesses the horrors of the forced labor camp during the construction of the Danube-Black Sea Canal and the hard work in the uranium mines while struggling to provide for his family.

Desperate to escape the communist tyranny, he leaves Romania and his family behind to find dignity and freedom in the United States. After five long years, with God's help, he is reunited with his children and he is inspired to tell his tale of survival.
