Abstract:
Reading history books has been a lifelong avocation. The historical truth was assumed until a well-known British historian announced that he had difficulty predicting the past. That astounding statement set in motion an inquiry into the writing of history by historians from Homer to the present day. It was soon apparent that motivation was the paramount factor in the type of truth that found its way onto parchment and paper.
