Abstract:
This book, Billy, the Californian, is a continuation of the story of the adventures of a teen-age orphan boy, Billy Costello, arriving in Sacramento, California, in 1850, to seek his fortune in the newly discovered gold fields.

Billy must decide on a direction for his life. Even though his decisions result in many ups and downs, he makes his way successfully in the rough-and-tumble environment of the gold fields of the Wild West. Like any young man growing into adulthood, he has hits and misses. In most cases, he succeeds.
