A very true depiction of life in the 60's. One can easily place him or herself in Emmitt's or AJ's character. This reader found herself living in AJ's life, going through the young girl's emotions and feeling the passion between AJ and Emmitt that no one could separate until the end. A must read for those who wish to relive that first tingling of excitement and desire rushing through your very soul that accompanies a first love and transition into womanhood! Truly an amazing display of tenderness and affection straight to and from the heart!

A beautifully written story of the transition from girl to woman. I laughed, I cried, I remembered. AJ embarks on an unexpected journey upon falling in love with an older man. The range of emotions covered by the author kept me turning pages until I reached the breath-taking end. The end is never enough, is it? Not for me, or for any great story. There is a sequel..."The Door". The real ending hasn't come yet, much to my delight!

I want to know more about the McCaley boys. This love story must be timeless. Mom, my grandmother and I all read it and cried.
