Abstract:
Like the Trailings of a Comet on an Endless Journey is a compilation of poems by Dr. Elliott Perlin, a hematologist/oncologist. The work was inspired by encounters with seriously ill patients with diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and blood disorders (especially sickle cell disease) as well as his personal life with his wife Carole, their children and grandchildren. After a general introduction, each section of the book is preceded by an explanation of the contents of the section as well as the stimulus for the creation of each poem. This book is unique therefore because it is an exposé not only of the author’s life, but also of the emotions and feelings that leads an individual to write poetry, the most personally expressive form of literature.
