Abstract:
This book, The Water Shoe: A Serious Work, represents 30+ years of work on water shoes, three US patents (1977, 1978, and 2003), and miles of waterways. My walk of the Panama Canal was 50+ miles (1974), and the English Channel was 22+ miles (1978). Rhine, Germany; Hudson, New York; and Seine River, Paris, France were my high points.

Is this book unique—one of a kind? As strange as it may seem, you may be holding the only serious book ever written on water shoes. Is the term “water shoe” in your dictionary? Search engine? I refuse to believe historians have overlooked this bit of universal history.
