Abstract:
In 1933, because of a family breakup, Boo, his sister, five, and his brother, seven, were dropped off at a Sisters’ Convent in Phoenix, Arizona. The Convent was the home for Sisters of the Precious Blood who taught at nearby St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Mary’s Girls’ High School. The Convent accepted a small number of children on a temporary basis until their parents were able to accommodate them once again. Six years later, Boo, his sister, and brother were farmed out to foster homes. Boo’s Convent is the story, mostly from Boo’s perspective, of life in that Convent.
