Abstract:
Mike Crawford loses his beloved wife of fifty years, and, hoping to share another lifetime together, wants both her and, following his suicide, himself cloned. His doctor friend reluctantly agrees to perform the cloning and to try to steer the clones’ futures. Elizabeth’s clone is adopted by the Overtons, and Mike’s by a couple without knowledge of the clones’ origins. Suspicions by Ham, Crawford’s lawyer son; covert actions by Ham’s private investigator; the youngsters’ drifting apart; and cloned Elizabeth’s betrothal to another, all bode failure for Mike’s dream—and cause Overton to realize the enormity of his undertaking.
