Abstract:
Falsely convicted of murder, Kauko is outlawed and leaves his pregnant wife and family. He’s bound for one last raid in Scotland. Returning to her farm in the fjord, his wife faces a difficult winter. Her father urges her to divorce, and, with him, immigrate to Eire. Overwhelming circumstances, force her to leave the home she loves and settle in a strange land. This tale takes place in ninth century Viking Scandinavia. Hoards of men that fought and pillaged, were giving up their hostile ways, to winter in warmer climates. Raiders became traders. These immigrants struggle to merge two cultures.
