Abstract:
Today many teachers have left our profession to seek other jobs.

Hiring more teachers will not help solve today’s problems in our educational system. That simply is a bandage, not a cure.

Students no longer show respect toward their teachers. Teachers have less and less authority, and when they look to their administrators for assistance, they find them both ineffective and afraid of their jobs. This is also partly due to the school board that would rather pay off parents that threaten to sue, rather than to back the school administrators and the teachers.

After a few years of teaching, the rose-colored glasses come off. Does it ever get better? Yes, you retire!
