Abstract:
As a teenager Joy Russell has run away seeking love. When Stan abandons her and daughter Katie, she returns to her long suffering, hard working parents. A tornado signifies change in the lives of the Russells, when it introduces Joy and Katie to neighbor Jake who comes to their assistance. He does not fit Joy’s preconceptions of men and she panics, confusing both herself and Jake. When Stan returns bringing trouble, the family must unite despite former differences in order to rescue Katie. As they learn forgiveness and trust, Jake, Joy, and the Russells experience the true meaning of ‘coming home.’
