Abstract:
This fictional novel, was inspired by a story that was told by an elderly Negro woman whose mother was a slave on a plantation in South Carolina, and she claimed to be the daughter of a slave girl, and the son of the farmer who once owned her mother as a slave. It tells of the problems and heartaches this white boy and slave girl suffered because of their relationship, and the deaths of his slaves who were killed by hooded-mobs of white men, when he became a plantation owner. This story tells things as they really happened, and sheds light on many things that no other writer has dared mention before. Because this story is about the South, and by a Southern writer makes it even more intriguing, and it will be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys reading about the Civil War era.
