Abstract:
Dr. John Devers is a retired physician who began his medical career serving as a naval corpsman at Iwo Jima and Okinawa during World War II, before graduating from Gettysburg College and the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He practiced medicine as a general practitioner in a rural community for five-years and later as a city-based anesthesiologist for thirty-five years. He entered the specialty at the dawn of its creation and participated in the development of many of its modern drugs and methods. He believes he has many stories to tell.
