Abstract:
THE DEVIL IN ANGELICA is a novella about a young man and woman in the South coming of age in a university setting. Steffon, a black male who comes from meager circumstances, falls in love with a rich, debonair white female. Steffon finds that Angelica is basically a white girl in ‘black drag’: for all intent and purposes she is a sister who likes Southern Comfort, partying, basketball, and black men. Steffon learns that, in reality, people may be different colors but have the same fears, shed the same tears, and die in so many years. Their relationship is, indeed, a stormy one.
