The United States is facing problems today that dwarf all other past issues that divided the nation. Why? How did we get to this time in our occasionally troubled history? It will be shown that the United States started, in a total wilderness, as a solidly Christian nation, and in less than 300 years, with Godly help, turned that wilderness into the greatest nation on earth. How did we degenerate to our present situation? Is the great deluder, Satan, frequently talked about in our early years, but not talked about in our present politically correct society now, the reason? This book will show that if Satan, or the devil, were not controlling much of what is happening, the results are exactly what one would expect if the devil were in control. So it really doesn’t matter whether you are a Christian and believe Satan is controlling, or we are doing it to ourselves. The result is the same. A strong case is made here that our founding fathers created a Christian nation. It is a fact, simple and true. We became the greatest nation on earth, with God’s help, and degenerated rapidly when we, as a nation, turned our backs on God. So whether you are a Christian and believe in God and Satan, or not, the evidence presented here should show that the final historical result, 240 years after our founding, is exactly as it would be if Satan had his way. There are three general areas where the evidence shows the Devil could be controlling. These are: 1. The nation clearly started as a nation under God and remained so for nearly 300 years, when the Supreme Court denied our Christian character. 2. Our corrupt justice system that has replaced a system based on justice with a judicial system based on legalism and taken over by anti-Christian, unelected, judges. 3. The illegal and immoral ruling by the Supreme Court that resulted in the killing of over sixty million babies, still in the womb. The court denied that babies in the womb are alive and claimed unlimited abortions are beneficial to women. (half the babies killed are females, and in some societies even more since some selectively abort more females.) All three areas overlap since Christianity and moral values are involved in every issue. When our Christian nation started it was based on three documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bible. Early attorneys started their law career by reading the Bible and Blackstone. And Blackstone’s writings were based on the Bible. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were clearly based on Christian values. Today, the Bible and all Christian historic icons are banned in public schools and in all public areas. Satan would be proud. Paul Harvey, a very popular radio talk show host in Chicago for many years, was well known for his anecdotes about “The Rest of the Story.” He was a Christian and became concerned over the way the nation was heading. He made the following comments on his program on April 3rd 1965: (with slight modifications) IF I WERE THE DEVIL. If I were the prince of darkness, I would want to involve the whole world in darkness. If I wanted to involve the whole world in darkness, not just 4/5 of the population, I wouldn’t be happy until I reached the ripest apple on the tree – thee. I would take over the United States, but I would take over all the churches first. I would delude their minds into thinking they had come from man’s efforts instead of God’s blessings. I would start a campaign of whispers. I would whisper to you as I did to Eve, that the Bible is a myth. I would teach the young that what’s bad is good and what’s good is square. I would have them pray after me “Our father which is in Washington…” I would caution the very young that marriage is old fashioned. The symbol of Easter would be an egg, and for Christmas a bottle. I would cheapen human life so that animals would be valued more than humans. I would make it legal to have abortions at any time, for any reason. Within a decade I would have prisons overflowing and would have judges supporting pornography. I would have judges substitute psychology for religion. I would take from those that have and give to those who want. I would undress you in public and lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. I would convince whole states to offer gambling as a way to get rich. I would take God out of schools and replace the Bible with chains and metal detectors. I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and get sports heroes to glorify them. I would get control of the media with the promise of higher ratings and have the mesmerizing media, fanning the flames of evil. I would attack the family and make divorce acceptable, easy, and even fashionable. I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, call it art, and pay for it. I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals and their life style should be accepted and even rewarded. I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is irrelevant and faithfulness and obedience are ancient beliefs. In other words, if I were the Devil, I would just keep on doing what he is doing. Paul Harvey had pretty well identified the moral degeneration of the nation over fifty years ago. This book will show that Paul Harvey was correct, and that, if you don’t believe in God and Satan, you will at least see that it really doesn’t matter. It could be accidental or coincidental, but Satan’s views are in control.
