Rossano “Russ” Burzi, a very successful businessman, is boarding his private jet for the return trip home. He has achieved many successes in his life so far. Today he’s not the one in command of the aircraft, although he’s a very experienced and excellent pilot himself. He's very tired from this last business deal he put together, part of the process of adding more wealth to his already large empire. Flying at 30,000 feet, he gazes out the window at the earth below him. Flying over a massively large forest, on this cold and crispy day, the visibility is excellent. In moments like this, during many flights, he has been possessed by his own vivid imagination.
At such times, he envisions what might have been out there on our planet in times past. How he’d love to pick a spot, go there and see it as it was, from a few to many centuries ago. How interesting and challenging it would be to reverse time, and fly over it. Yes, fly over the same patch of planet that his aircraft is now crossing, many years later, in the same part of the world in which he's been so successful.
Fly over say five hundred or a thousand years ago. Explore the endless possibilities. Think! The surroundings, ancient forest habitats, the tribes, the wildlife species, on and on, and on, how was it? This scenario played in his mind, over and over again, weeks and months afterward.
Chapter One
O ne day Rossano thought of paying a visit to an old buddy, a highly intelligent and famous scientist, George Radon. Many times these two had wondered if they could travel back into time past and visit such places. So it was about time again to reminisce about such dreams, plus it would be good to see what George was up to these days. George was now in charge of RIOSA—the Research Institute of Space Agency, a big conglomerate of scientists and engineers from all over the world, conducting and developing everything in the medical fields to even help NASA flight and space research. George Radon was now in Huntsville, Alabama, at the NASA research laboratory. They arranged to have lunch together. It was a good meeting, and they had a lot to talk about of times past. As usual, George was a very energetic guy, especially when he was up to something exciting. He was like a kid with a new toy, and his eyes lit up even more when Russ told him about the thoughts he’d had again on that October day’s flight, about his dream of going back in time. Russ told George that he still wanted to do something crazy if it was possible, since money was no longer a problem. Lack of money is often the main obstacle to proper research and development. George’s laughter was so loud that everybody in the room stared curiously at them and wondered what the joke was all about. As they wondered, Russ looked at George and said, “That’s the way they laugh at me when I try to secure funds for a project I’m trying to get off the ground. Like I’m crazy.” “No, Russ,” he replied. “I am laughing because I know now I’m not the only one that is crazy in this world, although in this case they are right.” Then his face reverted back to seriousness. Looking toward the waiter and snapping his fingers he said, “Check please! Rossano, it’s time I show you something, let’s go.” They got in the car and drove back to the office. Then George took Rossano to the end of the building. It was a very restricted place, and George proceeded to clear his friend through all of the security that one must go through to get into this place. Having no idea what to expect, Russ was getting very excited to say the least, knowing George’s reputation for being a genius. “Russ,” he said, “what I am about to show you will blow your mind.” He proceeded to another door, this time one with no security people lingering around. He placed his hand on the monitor for a clearance check. The light went green, the door opened, and they entered. “Russ, I have the answer to your dreams. I have however still some small problems to iron out, but it is 98% complete.” Then he pointed to a number of computers and laptops and what appeared to be a sort of little power generating station. Russ had been conducting studies on the subject for some time himself, so when the opportunity presented itself to him, he jumped right in to get personally involved. George said he had been experimenting with carrying on a detailed investigative analysis on what is known as quantum tunneling, which makes time travel possible, effectively traveling in the past, while still being capable of reverting back to the present without much difficulty. Results of this physicist’s study had been theoretically proven to him as very positive. “This unit,” George said, “fits in a state-of-the-art aircraft, and under certain flight conditions, when activated, a momentum of electric charge occurs, creating a huge and sudden change, thereby forming a large gravity force. In layman's terms, a tremendous negative field capable of sending the whole aircraft back to the past. “And by reverting back to a full positive field, the aircraft will be transported back to the exact place and time where it was at the beginning of the journey. But upon its return, the actual time we would lose would be a matter of hours in relation to the centuries we traveled into the past. I suspect, Russ, that we would in turn be a bit older. At this time, as I said before, I have been only conducting some theoretical simulations with good test results, but since in actuality we have not used the equipment to travel to the past or the future, whether we get older or younger, that remains to be seen. Russ, the one thing I’m certain of is that the location that we depart from must remain unaltered. Therefore provision and arrangements would have to be in place leave such a location unchanged, because we will return to it.”
