“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him” (I Samuel 22:1, KJV). “And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men” (I Samuel 22:1-2, KJV). Anyone who has lived this life as a Christian for any length of time should understand suffering and has experienced a low point in their lives. This is what I refer to as a “tsunami experience”. I’m not speaking of a natural tsunami but an emotional and spiritual encounter that causes one to retreat to a cave for safety and hiding as in David’s situation. “A Journey through the Cave to the Palace” is an inspirational and practical book designed to walk you through one of the darkest and most troublesome times of your life into a place of peace, hope and opulence. All of us at some point in our journey have or will experience what I refer to as a tsunami. Job echoes this concept quite well “yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward” Job 5:7. As a matter of fact, I believe that the recession has brought about new troubles and suffering from every facet of life. This economic downturn has ravished many lives like an angry wave grappling at one’s very being. A tsunami is the analogy used when describing a tumultuous trial. This storm is unlike an ordinary tempest, just as the troubles in your life are not easily shrugged off or dismissed. This book promises to walk you through a series of humongous wave like troubles that tend to linger and cause tremendous damage to the soul of individuals and families alike. Certain troubles can drive you to a spiritual cave or dark place and impact your life for years to come. The purpose of this book is to escort you through multiple stages of a personal trial using the analogy of a cave. As you read this book you will find that the author takes you through levels of the cave representing the stages of your tribulation. The cave will be described in 4 phases; 1) a place of hiding, 2) a receptacle or a place for burials, 3) a place of preservation, and 4) a place of resurrection. As you go through your troubles, there will be times when you will seek out a place of hiding both spiritually and naturally as David did. Contingent upon the severity of your hurt, you may attempt to bury the painful details or to bury the throbbing aches in your heart and mind. Chapter three begins your spiritual and mental journey through the cave of hiding, taking cover from the scorch of the enemy. No matter what you are going through, God will protect and hide you in His word. In chapter four due to the longevity of the trial, you may begin to lose hope, strength and determination. Sometimes we become so lethargic that we do like Elijah and run down to the juniper tree. There you may attempt to abort God’s plan for your life. Elijah became despondent and depressed and was at a place of giving up. In I Kings 19:4 “But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my father’s”. Yes, Elijah wanted to die, he desired to bury his dreams, gifts and the works that God had called him to do. Just as the prophet was about to give up God showed up. Chapter five will take you to a place of preservation as the Holy Spirit restores your emotions, spiritual being and life. In Chapter six the Holy Spirit brings restoration and resurrection into your life. Finally, as you progress through each stage of the cave, God will revive and refurbish your soul and bring you out. “A Journey through the Cave to the Palace” is riddled with practical application, scriptures and moments of prayer written for the sole purpose of navigating you through some of the darkest times of your life. You will find that each chapter is power packed with key points to ponder and times of meditation that allows the word of God to marinate into the furthest part of the soul and bring forth healing. It is recommended that you read one chapter a week as you meditate and allow the Holy Spirit to journey you through your tsunami. On this journey there will be many road stops as the Holy Spirit leads you in times of prayer and moments of reflections. There’s opportunity to metaphorically and spiritually walk with David on his path through the cave and into the palace as you read the story in I Samuel 22. God desires to move you through your struggles into a place of wealth, prosperity and health. Come travel with me on this voyage through the road of practical application, the streets of prayer and the highway of points to ponder. Let’s see what God has in store for you in the palace. May God bless you on your spiritual journey!
