FOREWORD
Dr. Byron G. Jackson is a man to follow. I love the expression that in life you need tour guides, not travel agents. Dr. Jackson has been there. He is a man that has been where you are now and is now where you want to be – a coveted destination known as “Healthier.” There is no shortage of weight-loss books or fitness heroes. Book store shelves are stuffed with quick fix gimmicks and get fit quick schemes that simply don’t work. What sets this book apart is its guiding principle: You don’t get healthy, you do healthy. I had the pleasure of watching Dr. B take this journey. He had strayed from his NCAA Football National Champion physique building ways while on a quest to advance his professional life. After years spent in the classroom studying for his future profession as a health and wellness expert, he had ironically drifted from the lifestyle that he would one day be professing. The result was typical: he found himself overweight and under-muscled. He had succumbed to the demands of professional life and let himself go. And one day he decided that he had, enough. It was time to get healthy again. You are holding a guidebook –a map and a compass. Follow his lead and find the healthy you locked-up inside. Break-free of the shackles of chronic disease and suffering that inevitably stem from the typical American lifestyle. Enjoy the body, energy and life that you deserve. There is a healthier you waiting to come out and play. Listen to Dr. Byron Jackson and follow this path. The life that you save will be your own.

Go to any library or bookstore and I am sure you will find books by the truckloads packed with a lot of useful information and theory on losing weight. What makes this book different is that it is written by a professional doctor in the field of natural healing who used these same strategies to lose weight and keep it off. You are receiving true transformational health strategies from someone who has lost a significant amount of weight himself. This book is not based solely on theory or information from someone who has never been out-of-shape or lost weight and then claim that their diet or program works. You can be sure that the strategies listed in this book have been tested and work. As a chiropractor my expertise is in wellness; and as a wellness doctor I help coach people to a healthier lifestyle. I make it a point to express to all of my patients that if you want to be truly healthy you have to eat healthy, exercise regularly, think positively, and reduce as much stress and interference in your body as possible. It is important to understand that this book is a combination of 2 topics, motivational keys and health keys for living healthier. Contrary to popular belief, truly successful health and weight-loss does not consist of counting calories, dieting, popping pills, or surgical procedures. It does consist of one primary thing: the correct mental attitude; and once you posses it, not only will the pounds start to melt away, but your overall body will function more optimally. That means more energy, a better mood, more happiness, increased performance, greater productivity, improved focus, more vitality, and less sickness. Before adopting the correct mental attitude about my health, and truly understanding what it means to be healthy I was living a life that was predestined for health destruction. A short time ago I was so self-conscious about my body that I would hardly ever take off my shirt. It didn’t matter if I was at home or at the beach, I just wouldn’t do it. But worst than the embarrassment and mental anguish I felt about how I looked, I thought like many other people that if I didn’t have any aches or pains, and if I felt okay, then I wasn’t that unhealthy. Unfortunately, that was the biggest mistake I could have made concerning my health. I have now come to understand that signs and symptoms for the most part, are usually a late indicator that there is a more serious problem going on. For example; if you have ever had a tooth ache like I had, the only thing you want your dentist to do is drill it, cap it, or pull it out. But any good dentist informs you that the tooth problem you’re having didn’t start the day you felt the pain. More than likely it had been developing for a period of time, and the pain itself was simply an indicator that the problem had been there for a while. Now once the dentist answers our prayers and eliminates the initial pain, he/she provides us with homework such as brushing, gargling, and flossing to not just treat the problem area, but more importantly to promote overall dental hygiene. This book is no different, not only do I want you to lose weight and look great, but I also want you to take the strategies and tips in this book and consider them homework so that your overall health and wellbeing is improved. The biggest misconception when it comes to health is to be reactive; meaning react to a health issue when it arises (like seeking dental care only when you have a tooth ache). The problem is that if you choose to live this way, you will more than likely be reacting to a late problem, and depending on how late the problem is the effects may be quite devastating. Instead, become proactive and do the things that promote health which is designed to add years to your life, and life to your years. Believe in yourself Eat Healthier Exercise Rest and Get Checked
