Congratulations on your decision to want to learn more about how you can be made free from overeating. If you are like me, you have read so many books on how to lose weight and become fit, that you are praying that this book will be the one that will turn the lights on and really help. I can boldly say, “It will!” But you must be willing to do what is found on these pages to make it happen. I did. I didn’t have any special anointing on me to do it either; I just had a will to do whatever I had to habitually obey what God showed me. You will learn the same scriptures, the same principles and the same actions I took to succeed. The only person that can stop you from being successful after you read this book is you.
So what makes me so sure that this is the right book for you? First, I am not just some author who studied others and came up with a conclusion and plan that I have not followed myself. I have actually lived what you are going through. I cried the same tears that you are crying over being overweight, and I actually tried many of the ways you have already tried to get it off. Next, I didn’t just have five pounds too lose either. I had to lose over eighty pounds. I actually followed the plan of deliverance that you are about to participate in and with God’s help I was successful in not only getting it off, but keeping it off. Sure there are other ways to lose weight, but this book is a reflection of my own personal walk through the pages of God’s Holy Word that brought permanent healing and health in my entire life. The healing was beyond the physical. I now experience a more healthy spiritual life, which in turn has transformed my entire existence to be more in line with God’s perfect will. I now believe that this is the way to true deliverance. Once the inside of one’s self has been changed, it doesn’t matter the condition, the outside will naturally follow suit.
This is what makes this book different. We will tackle and defeat the root causes of being overweight and then defeat them with principles given to us from God, our Creator, instead of something that He created.
I want to assure you though that I do endorse the benefits of good nutrition and physical exercise that many medical and health professionals teach and proclaim. However, many of them claim this is the only way to lose and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I think they have it only partly right. My testimony is a perfect example of this statement. I did exercise; I also ate what most would consider being a very healthy diet. But not until I addressed the spiritual and emotional issues I was dealing with that caused me to run to food, no matter how “healthy” my behaviors appeared, I would have remained a very miserable, unhealthy and overweight person.
Therefore, this book will not focus on the externals of counting calories, or physical exercise, and nutrition, but instead approach and conquer weight loss by addressing the spiritual issues that are prevalent in those who find themselves out of control with food and have awakened to the idea that they have become its slave.
It should be noted that God does tells us in His word, how He feels about exercise, and what we eat. Therefore, I will speak about these topics in brevity in Chapters III and V. I have found that these things taken together with excellent spiritual health are the keys to freedom.
Lastly, whether you are rich or poor, young or old, morbidly obese or not so overweight, if you cannot put down your favorite food, when you know you should not be eating it, you are a slave to that particular food or to food all together. If that is you, this book is certainly for you! This way of life is also for those of you who wish to maintain your current weight throughout your entire life. I also followed this plan during my last pregnancy. I did not gain as much weight applying the principles you will learn in this book, as I did with the other two. Until I learned the principles taught in this book I thought that when I was pregnant, I was “eating for two!” In actuality, my body’s need for food was for just one person.
Many are out of control with food and until it is discovered “why” one overeats or ‘why’ you may not eat enough, for those who struggle with anorexia or bulimia, you will never be able to completely be free from the grip that food has over you.
At the conclusion of reading this book, it is my prayer that God will reveal “why” you lack control with food and with His help, you will finally regain your God given authority over it.
