Corbi paused, “I have a better idea,” as he facetiously continued. “We could drop out of the public school system and ask the archdioceses if we could become a Catholic school. Then, maybe, we could separate the boys and girls.” Finally, thought Tabas and he sprang into action. “Why can’t we separate the boys and girls? Why can’t we? We have the perfect physical plant to do this, gyms, auditoriums and science rooms on each side of the building. The library could be shared on a scheduled basis. If we could significantly reduce our discipline problems, why not take a serious look at this?” Tabas looked around. “OK, enough debate. Let me phrase a resolution for your consideration. If we could get permission, and if we could work out assignments equitably, would you want to split the boys and girls into what basically would be two different schools? Please take out a slip of paper and vote yes or no. Ben, would you please count the votes?”
